Unglued Devotional, Monday November 4, 2013 - Acts 9:1-19

Before Paul wrote Philippians, before Paul was a Christian, Paul’s name was Saul. Saul hated Christianity (9:1-2). Saul is planning to go to a city called Damascus to arrest anyone who claims to be part of “The Way” (During this time, because Christianity was so new, people labeled it a cult. Thankfully that sort of thing doesn’t happen today . . .) On his way to Damascus, Saul meets Jesus and is radically changed.

Pay attention to verse 16. Being a Christian doesn’t mean your life gets easy. In many ways, it gets harder. God didn’t have a sinister plan for Paul. But God was honest in that pain will be a common occurrence in Paul’s life. Are you surprised when frustration, pain, disappointment come into your life? Why?

God knew the pain Paul would experience. He also knows the pain you either will experience or are experiencing right now. Take a few moments to write down your biggest fears, deepest pain and hurts and talk to God about them. Ask God to give you the kind of faith that can stand regardless of what might come your way.
